National Geographic recently announced the winners of its annual Pictures of The Year awards. The annual contest invites photographers to submit their work for a chance to be published in National Geographic Magazine. This year’s contest drew nearly 5,000 submissions. The competition’s top prize was awarded to Karthik Subramaniam for an epic shot featuring three bald eagles battling for a prime perch on a tree in the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve in Alaska.
